Something Different This Way Comes

Hey folks,

It’s been an exciting summer, and I’m marking milestones and thinking about some changes. I’d love to get your opinion! Let’s start with where we are.

This Is Where We Are

We’re a little more than halfway through my Greek mythology serial, Epiphanywhich will be published in hard copy come December. I’m so grateful for your readership and all the thoughtful comments that I’ve received so far!

The ending is really the reason why I decided to write this book, so I hope you’ll stick around (or tune in) as the story begins to accelerate toward its dynamic conclusion. Here’s the latest chapter: My Meeting with the Fates

If you’re new or trying to catch up, never fear! I finally created a post that outlines both serials in my publication and exactly where to start. Please enjoy!

What’s Coming

I’m still working on my Pilgrim’s Progress project, The Great Adventure of Christian Pilgrim, which is a modern retelling of Bunyan’s classic for middle grade to high school readers. I just commissioned illustrations from my artist friend Bryan Burk, who illustrated I Wanted to Tell You Something: Fairytales. Perhaps I’ll be able to share a few images with you soon…!

I’m also considering a limited nonfiction series to be published here on Substack that would cover ideas that have had a centrifugal impact on my writing — and why I believe fiction is an important tool for understanding human nature, our place in the world, and our ultimate destiny. This series would dive into the works of Dostoevsky, Lewis, Orwell, Bradbury, Tolstoy, London, and perhaps others for those core ideas and discussion. It may be a special segment, so let me know if you’d be interested!

Speaking of Which, I Need Your Opinion

Because I know that life gets busy, I wanted to get your opinion. Substack is developing audience tagging and segmentation, which means that in the future, I could accommodate weekly, monthly, and event-only readers. So let me ask you, just to gauge interest in post cadence, when do you prefer to read my posts?

I hope you’re having a wonderful summer season. Take a paperback and a cup of lemonade into the shade, won’t you? And don’t forget to stare at the clouds for an unreasonable amount of time.

All my best,

Anna

P.S. If you’ve read and enjoyed I Wanted to Tell You Something: Fairytales, would you do me a huge favor and leave a review on Amazon? Even one line or a star rating would be amazing. Thanks! :)
